The mission of AACVPR is to reduce morbidity, mortality and disability from cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases through prevention, education, rehabilitation and aggressive disease management.  Central to this mission is the improvement of quality of life for patients and their families.

AACVPR serves as an essential advocate for all cardiovascular and pulmonary disease management programs.  Not only does AACVPR provide internationally recognized guidelines for cardiac and pulmonary rehab programs but it also works as an active mouthpiece in the national legislative process.  AACVPR executive committees are continually working with lawmakers and  members of various government agencies (i.e., HCFA and Medicare) with the hopes of helping these agencies pass legislation that will provide for better funding of cardiac and pulmonary disease management programs.

AACVPR provides wonderful educational opportunities to  its members. In addition to the annual conference AACVPR provides peer reviewed periodicals not only to its members, but also to the general public. The bimonthly Journal of Cardiopulmonary  Rehabilitation  is a valuable resource for keeping  abreast of new and developing issues in the disease management profession.  The quarterly newsletter News and Views of AACVPR gives members current updates on upcoming conferences, happenings of state and  regional affiliates, and allows members of the executive board to communicate their ideas on current issues.
